LUBOMBO – Standard Bank Eswatini has donated E1.5 million to Good Shepherd Referral Hospital to support the delivery of accessible and quality healthcare services.

The donation is expected to assist the hospital in improving care for patients, particularly children, as it continues to face high demand for its services.

Chief Executive Officer Muzi Dlamini welcomed the contribution, describing it as a significant boost to the institution and the country’s healthcare system.

“I am very proud that this bank has a caring heart and makes dreams come true. On behalf of the board and the children who will benefit, we express our gratitude for this partnership,” he said.

Dlamini said the funding would contribute to improving medical services and help the hospital maintain high standards of care, with the goal of attracting patients from outside Eswatini.

“We are always striving for excellence, especially in medical care, and this contribution will help us achieve that,” he said.

He added that the hospital provides continuous care for children from birth and is committed to ensuring that the donation is properly managed.

“We will make sure this contribution and all the resources the bank has brought are managed properly,” he said.

Dlamini highlighted challenges faced in the Lubombo region, including high rates of teenage pregnancy, which often lead to complications among young patients.

He said the hospital attends to an average of 200 children per week, with many requiring admission.

“We have now placed them in a better facility, but it is still small. A good number of those we see need to be admitted,” he said.

Dlamini said the impact of the donation would extend beyond the hospital, benefiting communities across the country.

“The bank has helped not just the hospital, but the entire country,” he said.
