MATSAPHA – A 50-year-old security guard from Sigombeni is behind bars after his teenage daughter broke her silence regarding years of alleged sexual abuse inside their shared home.

The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) moved swiftly on Tuesday to apprehend the suspect in Mbabane, ending a cycle of violence that reportedly began in 2023. Investigators reveal that the man utilized his rented flat in Matsapha to exploit the 16-year-old girl.

Even after his employment as a security guard saw him transferred to the capital city, the suspect reportedly traveled back to the Matsapha flat during his off-duty hours specifically to continue the assaults. The victim remained silent for years due to intense fear, but she eventually found the strength to walk into the Matsapha Police Station on February 17, 2026.

Officers launched an immediate manhunt, tracking the father to Mbabane where he was taken into custody the same day.

In a separate chilling incident that has rocked the Lubombo region, Siteki police have detained a 40-year-old man from Malindza for the sexual violation of an eight-year-old child.

The suspect, who worked as a caretaker for a neighbor of the victim in the Maphatsindvuku area, allegedly pounced on the girl as she returned from playing with friends. The attack occurred around 16:00 hours on February 15, 2026. Reports indicate the man dragged the minor into a nearby bush to carry out the assault.

The ordeal came to light when a concerned community member spotted the young girl in tears. Upon being questioned, the child narrated the details of the attack. Following a formal report on February 16, police tracked the suspect down in the early hours of the following morning, arresting him at approximately 02:00 hours.

Both men are slated to appear before the Magistrates Court between today and tomorrow to face formal charges.

The police service noted that “Children are the future; they must be protected and kept safe,” as they reaffirmed their drive to seek justice for vulnerable groups.
