LUSAKA – President Hakainde Hichilema will deliver a keynote address at the Investing in African Mining Indaba 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa, from February 9 to 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation announced on Friday, February 7, 2026.
President Hichilema will be accompanied by Minister of Mines and Minerals Development Hon. Paul Kabuswe and other senior officials. The Zambian delegation will use the platform to showcase the country’s mining reforms, investment opportunities, and industrialisation agenda to senior global investors, financiers, and industry operators.
“President Hichilema’s participation underscores Zambia’s renewed positioning at the centre of Africa’s evolving mining and investment landscape, as well as the Government’s commitment to leveraging the mining sector as a driver of economic growth, industrialisation, and sustainable development,” the ministry said.
The president’s attendance comes amid Zambia’s efforts to strengthen the mining sector through regulatory certainty, transparency, improved institutions, and advanced mining technologies aimed at long-term growth. These reforms have already boosted global investor confidence in the country’s governance and policy framework.
Mining Indaba’s Country Showcase Sessions provide governments with a platform to present their mining vision and investment potential. Aligning with the 2026 theme, “Stronger Together: Progress Through Partnerships,” President Hichilema is expected to discuss Zambia’s collaboration with the private sector, development partners, and multilateral institutions, stressing transparency, mutual benefit, and sustainable partnerships.
During the conference, he will also hold bilateral meetings with mining companies, institutional investors, development partners, and fellow heads of state, as well as participate in high-level policy discussions to attract investment into Zambia’s mining sector.
Zambia continues to prioritise economic diplomacy and strategic partnerships to support inclusive growth and national development under President Hichilema’s vision. The president is scheduled to return to Lusaka after concluding his engagements in Cape Town.
