Mbabane’s Dr Sishayi Road came alive on Thursday when Princess Sakhizwe led a high-powered delegation on an official tour of the venue that will host the Made in Eswatini Consumer Fair on May 1, 2026, as preparations in the capital gather serious momentum.
The tour was organised by A Peculiar People and drew together a notable group of officials including Minister of Housing and Urban Development Hon. A. Maphalala, Mbabane East MP Hon. Welcome Dlamini, Mbabane Mayor T. Mkhonto and Mbabane City Council CEO Gciniwe Fakudze.
Princess Sakhizwe led the delegation as they crossed from Swazi Plaza Properties toward The Mall and New Mall on Dr Sishayi Road, where they were warmly received by Nhlanhla Nkonyane of The Mall and New Mall. The tour offered an exclusive preview of how the precinct will be transformed into a well curated local superstore showcasing the very best of products and services made in Eswatini.
The occasion also marked the official announcement of key sponsorships for the fair. Lactalis Eswatini Marketing Manager Lucky Phiri confirmed that the country’s leading dairy producer will contribute E60 000 towards the event. Eswatini Wire, trading as Swazi Wire Industries and recognised as the country’s major manufacturer and distributor of steel, was also confirmed among the sponsors.
Fakudze led the city’s hosting of the tour, which organisers have described as a defining moment for urban economic activation and local enterprise growth in Mbabane.
The Made in Eswatini Consumer Fair has cemented its position as the Kingdom’s premier platform for promoting homegrown excellence and industrial innovation. The fair drives the Buy Local movement by uniting corporate sponsors and local producers to stimulate economic growth, while putting a spotlight on Eswatini’s capacity to produce quality goods at home.
Mbabane is set to take centre stage on May 1 when the city hosts this year’s edition of the fair, an event expected to give Emaswati a direct opportunity to support local businesses and play a part in driving economic growth across the Kingdom.
