Mbabane – Maggie Ginindza, a 38-year-old resident of Mafutseni, has achieved a milestone in her acting career by securing a full-time role on the South African television drama Isitha: The Enemy.
Speaking to the Eswatini Observer, Ginindza said she was among five locals selected during auditions held last year in Eswatini by Black Brain Pictures, the production company behind the popular e.tv soapie. “What began as a background appearance later developed into a fully fledged character,” she said, marking a major step in her journey as an actress.
Walking onto the Isitha: The Enemy set for the first time, Ginindza described the experience as “both exciting and overwhelming.” She initially joined the production as an extra but through hard work and consistency earned the trust of the production team, which led to her role being expanded.

“Seeing myself on television for the first time was an emotional and fulfilling moment, especially considering I have dreamed of acting since childhood,” Ginindza said.
Her acting journey began with school and community productions before moving into professional work locally. She later appeared on the television series Ekhaya, gaining valuable experience and a deeper understanding of the industry’s demands. “My time on Ekhaya played a crucial role in shaping my professionalism, discipline and ability to work within a production team,” she added.
Her role on Isitha: The Enemy marks her first major breakthrough in South Africa’s competitive television industry. Working alongside experienced actors has challenged her to elevate her performance and grow creatively.
Ginindza hopes her story will inspire young people from rural areas such as Mafutseni to pursue their ambitions.
