Manzini – The Swaziland National Association of Teachers announced that it will hold its 2026 union elections this year, with a series of branch conferences scheduled between February and April. The union revealed the details in Circular No. 1 of 2026 issued on Monday, 19 January, ahead of elections opening this year.

Themed “Empowering Union Members to Deepen, Defend and Advance Workers Collective Bargaining,” this year’s elections are set to strengthen the role of members in the union’s decision-making and advocacy.

Nominations opened on 13 January and will close at 16:00 on 5 February 2026. Branch Secretaries are expected to submit all nomination forms to the Office of the Secretary General by 16:00 on 6 February. The National Credentials Committee, in collaboration with Branch Elections, will review the forms and publish a final list of candidates eligible for both national and branch positions. Campaigning by nominated candidates may commence after the list is released.

The first branch conference is scheduled for 24 February, with the final conference concluding on 1 April. The union also published a list of eligible and ineligible candidates for its National Executive Committee, Credentials Committee, Resolutions Committee, Conference Committee, NASOWECO, NASOWCO, and Board of Trustees positions.
