Mbabane – Finance Minister Neal Rijkenberg says the listing of AGSPAC on the Eswatini Stock Exchange signals confidence in the country’s economic outlook and steady progress in developing the local capital market.

Rijkenberg made the remarks in Mbabane during the bell ringing ceremony marking AGSPAC’s official entry onto the Eswatini Stock Exchange. He said the listing represents more than a single corporate transaction, pointing to growing trust in Eswatini’s financial systems and institutions.

The minister commended AGSPAC for choosing to list on the domestic exchange, saying the move reflects belief in the potential of the local market and the role of home grown capital formation in driving sustainable economic growth.

He said a properly functioning capital market is a strategic economic necessity, as it mobilises savings, channels investment into productive sectors and strengthens transparency, governance and capital allocation. According to Rijkenberg, these factors are central to economic stability, private sector expansion, job creation and long term fiscal sustainability.

Rijkenberg also restated government’s commitment to strengthening the institutional foundations of the capital market through sound regulation, investor protection, development of market infrastructure and stronger regional and international partnerships.

He said a robust stock exchange enables government to fulfil its responsibilities in economic stewardship, infrastructure development and fiscal management, while easing reliance on public funding and external borrowing.

On AGSPAC itself, the minister said the listing shows the importance of building companies capable of scaling over time. He expressed optimism that the company would raise additional capital in the future and expand into sectors that support economic diversification and resilience.

Rijkenberg said listings of this nature contribute to stronger investor confidence, improved market liquidity and wider domestic ownership of productive assets, ensuring that more economic value remains within the country.
