Mbabane: The choice is yours. It’s all up to you to either call them astute, shrewd, sharp, smart or clever businesspeople.

These are non-other than the Mansoor family, the founders of the Buy n Save Group. They are continually showing their shrewdness through making more investments especially, in the retail sector and through that, they have created jobs and continue to do so, which is a clear sign that they are here to stay and have no intentions of living the country.

Once again, they are adding another retail shop in their portfolio which will cost around E25 million which would be located at Mahwalala. Independent News has been made to understand that the underway development would be called Hilltop Spar. A filling station would also be constructed along the state-of-the-art shop that will definitely change the skyline of Mbabane. The brand name of the filling station is known to this publication, but cannot be revealed as per the request of the developers.

Mlungisi Dlamini, the Project Manager told Independent News that the development is currently at its first phase, which mainly comprise earthworks. Dlamini said land preparation started a month ago and are expected to be completed mid-September. Ants Construction was the one that was awarded the tender to undertake land preparation.

Dlamini went on to say that construction will commence soon after the completion of land preparation and expected to take less than 18 months, suggesting that the shop could be operational before the end of 2021. According to the project manager, the property will offer an open office that could be used as a police post should government find it fit to have one at Mahwalala and the developers would be readily available for negotiations in that regard.

“We are happy about the development more so because it will create about 100 job opportunities for emaSwati who are currently unemployed. As Buy n Save, we are determined to reduce the unemployment rate, which is standing at 22.8 percent hence the continuous investment,” Dlamini said.

The Buy n Save Group has recently completed the Manzini Life Style Centre in Manzini which cost around E100 million. They currently own a group of other shops trading as Spar in the country Dlamini also disclosed that there is another multi-million development that would be undertaken soon, but declined to reveal its location for now.

Currently, operational Spars under the Buy n Save Group are in Mbabane, Ezulwini-Corner Plaza, Matsapha in Manzini. They also own Food Town in Manzini and a wholesale business, Power Trade.

Arguably, Buy n’ Save Group is one of the major employers in the country as it is currently employing over 1000 people. They also own residential properties around Manzini and they also own a township in Ezulwini.
