Mbabane – A fraud and theft case involving Zimbabwean national Delight Moyo was postponed after his lawyer withdrew from representing him.

Moyo faces 33 charges, including fraud linked to the Home Affairs Department and theft. He appeared in the Mbabane Principal Magistrate Court alongside his co-accused, Nkosinathi Zwane.

At the start of proceedings, Moyo’s lawyer, Sivesonkhe Ngwenya, informed the court that he would no longer represent him. Moyo said he was taken by surprise because the withdrawal came at short notice. He explained that this was not the first time the lawyer had considered withdrawing, but they had previously resolved their issues and continued working together. Moyo said he was now prepared to represent himself.

The prosecutor told the court that the state was ready to proceed and call witnesses but raised concerns about whether Moyo had access to all case documents, which had been previously given to his lawyer. The prosecutor offered to compile the documents into one file to ensure Moyo could prepare his defence properly.
