COVID-19: three (3) new deaths, toll stands at 28

Mbabane: The death toll in Eswatini is rapidly increasing as three (3) new deaths confirmed on Thursday.

Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi has sadly announced three new COVID-19 related deaths of two man and one woman. Nkosi said death number 26 was a 20 year old man from Manzini Region who had known co-morbidities and presented to one of the country’s health facilities on July 21 with severe respiratory symptoms. He was admitted under isolation and treated as COVID-19 suspect. However, his condition deteriorated while under care. He died before his results returned positive of COVID-19.

Death number 27 was a 68 year old woman from Manzini region who had been seen at one of the country’s health facilities on July 21 where she was treated for respiratory symptoms and then tested for COVID-19. While waiting for results at home, her symptoms worsened and she was admitted and diagnosed to have COVID-19 disease. She passed away on the early hours of July 23 July due to complications from other pre-existing diseases.

Death number 42 year old woman from Manzini region, who was admitted at Lubombo Referral Hospital on July 10. She was admitted under ICU care. However, her condition did not improve and was worsened by pre-existing illnesses she died as July 23.

On another, Health Minister announced that the number of confirmed cases has also increased to 2021 as 83 new cases confirmed on the date. Nkosi also announced 6 new recoveries which brings the total of recovered cases to 882.
