Mbabane – Three men believed to be behind a series of shop break-ins in Nkamanzi were arrested on Monday night after residents pursued and intercepted their vehicle.
The suspects allegedly targeted three shops on the same night, taking groceries and cash before attempting to flee the area. Residents, who said they had been dealing with frequent break-ins in recent days, mobilised quickly and followed the suspects’ vehicle.
The chase ended at Emtiyeni, where the suspects were reportedly heading towards Madlangempisi. The community managed to stop the vehicle, and in the process, it was damaged before police arrived to take over.
Police Information and Communications Officer, Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, confirmed the arrests. She said three suspects were taken into custody, while a fourth suspect escaped and remains at large.
Vilakati added that investigations are ongoing and urged the public to report any information that may assist in locating the remaining suspect.
