Mbabane – Joseph Dlamini, 60, a pastor at Mbuluzi A.E.C. Church, appeared before the Mbabane Magistrates Court this week facing a charge of common assault. Court records indicate the incident occurred on October 12, 2025, when Dlamini allegedly struck Thulani Tsela twice on the left side of his face during an altercation at the church.

Dlamini, represented by Attorney M. Ginindza, pleaded not guilty. The defence informed the court that Dlamini had complied with police instructions to appear and would not evade trial. The Crown requested that the matter be remanded to December 8, 2025, while allowing Dlamini to remain out on warning, which the magistrate approved, cautioning him against contacting Tsela directly or indirectly.

In a related case, Themba Ginindza, 49, from Maphalaleni, was arrested for common assault after allegedly striking Dlamini on the back of the head. Ginindza told the court he acted in self-defence, claiming Dlamini had attacked with a bush knife and that he was trying to prevent harm as a community police officer.

The court found Ginindza guilty and fined him E500 or three months imprisonment in default. Dlamini was also warned to maintain peace and avoid similar conduct in future.
