Mbabane – Former Royal AM chairman and player, Andile Mpisane, is confirmed to be returning to professional football as he has been signed as one of the additional new Mbabane Highlanders AM players.
The 24-year-old midfielder was announced as part of the new management back in July by businesswoman Shauwn ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize after becoming the club’s new president. Mpisana’s career path which began in the National First Division with Royal Eagles, before following to Real Kings, which was subsequently renamed Royal AM, has shown consistency on the pitch. His initials are incorporated in Mbabane Highlanders AM FC after the presidency announcement
The Royal AM whose era ended abruptly with tax evasion charges levelled by the South African Revenue Service (SARS) led to the curatorship of the club and its ultimate expulsion by the PSL. This situation necessitated MaMkhize’s move to seek a new football venture outside of South Africa before settling with Mbabane Highlanders AM Football Club.
Despite MaMkhize stating in a Metro FM interview that Mpisane was “unlikely to feature” at her new club, it has been confirmed he is among 10 new players registered by Highlanders AM FC for the new season. He will wear his regular number 10 jersey, officially confirming the revival of the controversial player-president dynamic on an international stage.
