Mbabane – The Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) today, Wednesday, opened a two-day national cybersecurity workshop in Mbabane. The event is organised in partnership with the Eswatini Communications Commission and supported by a World Bank-funded project under the Development of the National CSIRT Action Plan and Training Program for Eswatini.
The training brings together government officials, state-owned entities, private sector representatives and civil society organisations. It focuses on strengthening the country’s readiness to respond to cyber threats through practical guidance on the operations of a Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), including service delivery, tools, technologies and incident management processes.
ICT Minister Savannah Maziya told participants the programme will build critical skills needed to protect Eswatini’s digital infrastructure. She noted that the training supports the recently tabled Critical Infrastructure Protection Bill of 2025 and builds on the Computer Crime and Cybercrime Act of 2022.
Opening the workshop, Acting Director of Communications Sakhile Dlamini said the training was aligned with the Government in Your Hand initiative, which promotes reskilling and upskilling to adapt to fast-changing technologies.
The workshop will continue on Thursday with sessions on situational awareness, security event detection and vulnerability management, before ending with a question-and-answer session to consolidate the lessons learned.
