MBABANE – Three men from Mangwaneni have been remanded into custody after being charged with the murder of an unidentified man in a violent incident that shook the community at the end of August.
The accused, Musa Zondi (30), Sipho Hlophe (27) and Siyabonga Dlamini (22), appeared before the Mbabane Magistrates Court this week. They face a single count of murder for allegedly stabbing a man to death on August 30, 2025.
Court documents state that the three men acted together with a common purpose when they repeatedly stabbed the victim with a knife, causing fatal injuries.
The trio was informed of their legal rights and indicated that they would engage private attorneys for their defence. Magistrates ordered that they remain in custody at the Mbabane Correctional facility until their next court date on September 19, 2025.
Residents of Mangwaneni expressed concern following the killing, noting that violent crime has been on the rise in their area. Some community members said stronger measures were needed to reduce the circulation of knives and other dangerous weapons during disputes.
Prosecutors are preparing to present evidence linking the men to the crime, while the accused are expected to contest the charges. If found guilty, they could face lengthy prison terms.
The court is expected to decide in the coming weeks whether the three will remain behind bars or be released on bail while awaiting trial in the High Court.
