JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns played out a 0-0 draw at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night, with both teams unable to break the deadlock in an action-packed Betway Premiership clash.

Chiefs made three changes to their starting lineup, bringing in Paseka Mako, Zitha Kwinika, and Pule Mmodi. Sundowns also adjusted their side, introducing Thapelo Morena, Malibongwe Khoza, and Fawaaz Basadien. The home side aimed to end their league winless streak against Sundowns, who last lost to Chiefs in a 2-1 defeat in 2021 under coach Arthur Zwane.

The match opened with fast-paced action. Tashreeq Matthews missed an early chance in the eighth minute after Iqraam Rayners’ header found him. Sundowns struggled to move the ball in attack as Chiefs pressed high, but Masandawana regained composure before halftime.

Goalkeepers were tested in quick succession. Ronwen Williams denied Glody Lilepo’s long-range strike in the 37th minute, and two minutes later, Brandon Petersen blocked a powerful attempt by Teboho Mokoena. The first half ended goalless.

In the final minutes, Chiefs intensified their attacks, pressing for a winner, but Sundowns held firm. In added time, Williams stopped Mthethwa’s shot from distance, securing the draw for Masandawana.

Both sides remain unbeaten in their recent encounters, sharing the spoils after a competitive and evenly contested fixture.
