Mbabane- The Eswatini Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Society (ESWACOS) is calling on creatives across various disciplines to register for membership.
This initiative aims to ensure that writers, producers, artists, and other copyright holders receive equitable remuneration and payment of copyrights and royalties – payments made to the owner of an asset for the right to use or profit from that asset – for the public usage of their work.
Currently local creatives do not receive any royalties for their work unlike their South African counterparts.
ESWACOS is positioning itself as a vital collecting society within Eswatini, dedicated to safeguarding the economic interests of copyright holders.
Their comprehensive approach involves the registration and licensing of creative works, followed by the diligent collection and distribution of royalties. The benefits of registering with ESWACOS extend beyond financial compensation.
The society is committed to protecting its members, ensuring they receive the royalties that are due to them.
Furthermore, ESWACOS provides valuable training and educational support to its members, empowering them with knowledge in copyright management. Creatives interested in joining ESWACOS can find them located at Embassy House in Mbabane.
