Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the departures of Thembinkosi Lorch and Neo Maema, as coach Miguel Cardoso initiates a squad overhaul.
The two midfielders have officially left the club, which is restructuring ahead of a demanding 2025/26 season. The club publicly announced Maema’s exit, posting a farewell message on social media that wished him success. The midfielder’s next steps are expected to be finalized once he returns from Uganda, where he is currently captaining Bafana Bafana in the CHAN tournament.
Lorch, meanwhile, is set to make his return to Wydad Casablanca. The move, which is reportedly a permanent switch, comes after the player impressed during a successful loan spell with the Moroccan side. His strong showing included a notable performance at the FIFA Club World Cup, solidifying his place in the “Red Castle.”
These exits are part of a strategic effort by Cardoso to trim the squad and prepare the team for a campaign that will see them compete in multiple competitions.
