MBABANE – Mbabane Highlanders AM FC is making major changes to its squad, releasing eight players while bringing in new talent.
The team has secured several new players, including former Denver Sundowns player Wandile Ntshakala, Muhle Siyaya, and former Manzini Wanderers defender Sihle Mkhonta while the eight players released were surplus to requirements.
These moves follow a recent takeover of the team by businesswoman Shaun ‘MaMkhize’ Mkhize. The club is currently in a month-long training camp in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, to prepare for the new season.
Club spokesperson Charles Jele confirmed the release of at least eight players, stating they were surplus to requirements. The aim is to make room for new signings. Jele mentioned that the players, including former Moneni Pirates goalkeeper Bhekisa Dlamini, are fortunate to have been reunited with former Green Mamba coach Ernest Mavuso.
Other new additions are Innocent Dlamini, who has previously played for Nsingizini Hotspurs and Manzini Sea Birds, and Melusi ‘Mega’ Magagula.
The club is also bringing in the “Sea Birds” duo of Philani ‘Mkasabuli’ Mkhonto and Mayibongwe ‘Suarez’ Mabuza. Additionally, they have signed former Green Mamba Captain and Botswana’s Gwaneng Galaxy player Mxolisi ‘Kudus’ Mkhonto. However, Mkhonto has been loaned to another Botswana club, Morapule Wanderers, as his contract is set to expire in December.
The new players reportedly traveled from Durban and entered the country via the Lavumisa Border Gate.
