MBABANE – The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade has confirmed that the 10% tariff imposed by the United States on Eswatini remains in effect following the recent 90-day pause announced by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The executive order, issued on 31 July 2025, modifies earlier tariff measures but does not change the rate applicable to Eswatini’s exports. Minister Manqoba B. Khumalo said diplomatic talks through Eswatini’s embassy in Washington, D.C., are ongoing to strengthen trade relations and explore possible improvements.
The Minister reminded exporters and private sector stakeholders that the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) program, which provides preferential trade access to the U.S., is set to expire at the end of September 2025. Eswatini has made formal representations seeking an extension but awaits the final decision from the U.S. government.
All exporters and business actors are encouraged to stay informed as the situation develops. Further updates will be communicated by the ministry.
