MBABANE – Simanga Mamba (37), found himself before the Mbabane Principal Magistrate Fikile Nhlabatsi after smashing his partner’s car window and threatening her life.
The accused, who violently broke the rear window, valued at E1 000, of Nonjabuliso Dludlu’s vehicle pleaded guilty to malicious damage to property.
The charge was violating Section 77(1) of the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence (SODV) Act.
The incident escalated after a heated argument, during which Mamba threw a bunch of keys and a cellphone at the car, causing the damage.
Dludlu also accused him of threatening to kill her, claims the accused denied when entering his plea.
Mamba told the court that he acted in anger and was overwhelmed with emotions at the time.
“I’m sorry. I regret my actions. I was not thinking straight,” he said.
He further pleaded with the court for leniency. Mamba said he was unemployed and promised to compensate Dludlu for the damage.
The principal magistrate sentenced Mamba to a fine of E2,000 or two years’ imprisonment. However, the sentence is suspended for three years on the condition that he does not commit a similar offence during that period.
The court also ordered the accused not to act violently or harass the complainant again.
