Eswatini Air is set to introduce a new route connecting King Mswati III International Airport (SHO) in Eswatini with Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) in Lusaka, Zambia. According to a report from Travel News Africa, while the airline has yet to confirm the official launch date, this move expands its regional network.
The new service is expected to boost travel between Eswatini and Zambia, creating more opportunities for business and tourism. It also positions King Mswati III International Airport as a growing hub for regional air travel, offering more flight options in southern Africa.
Eswatini Air, launched in 2022 under the government-owned Royal Eswatini National Airways Corporation (RENAC), began operations in March 2023. The airline currently operates flights to Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban in South Africa, as well as Harare, Zimbabwe.
Operating from King Mswati III International Airport, Eswatini Air has built a reputation for reliability, achieving a 95% on-time performance rate and 98% schedule integrity in its first year. The addition of the Lusaka route aligns with its goal of strengthening regional trade, tourism, and economic links.
The Lusaka route will provide travelers with greater access to two key destinations. Eswatini’s cultural heritage and natural attractions, including wildlife reserves and mountains, complement Zambia’s well-known sites such as Victoria Falls and safari experiences. The route is expected to attract business travelers and tourists alike, further supporting the region’s travel industry.
