EZULWINI –June and July have been the best months for a Shongwe family of Siphocosini as two members won E100 000 and E20 000 respectively.

Siphosethu Shongwe who is a farmer won a grand prize of E100 000 after playing the Bonanza 1.0 games which were closed in June. Shongwe said he was a regular player of the game, but it was the first time that he had won.

He said he would use the money to boost his vegetable farming business.

Yesterday his uncle, Nkosinamandla Shongwe walked away with E20 000 after he was announced the winner for the month of July.

Shongwe (uncle) said he had just played the quiz game for a month.

“Actually I was first inspired by the random SMS from 7080, which at first I ignored. However, when my nephew won E100 000 I was encouraged and I started playing without fail,” he said.

The unemployed 32-year-old said he would use the money to boost some of his income-generating projects, which he was reluctant to mention.

He said he was surprised that he actually won the biggest prize right after his brother’s son.

“I have been reluctant to play such games because I have never won in any of those that I have played before,” he said.

The other two customers who won E1 500 grocery vouchers are Sibusiso Mavimbela and Lunga Dlamini.

Presenting the prizes, MTN’s Mbongiseni Fakudze thanked the trio for actively playing the game. He said at least they were there to attest to that it was possible to win.

“I hope you will spend your prizes wisely and also continue to play as this competition will run for three months,” he said.

A new feature has been added in the Bonanza game where weekly prizes now include a return flight ticket for two to Johannesburg with a E4 000 shopping voucher to be spent in South African shops.

This comes on top of the two other weekly winners who get E1 500 shopping voucher each to use at any OK Foods shops.

Bonanza can be played by any adult who may opt in by sending ‘JOIN’ to 7080. To continue playing one can send ‘MORE’ to 7080.

The game has four prize categories and they are; 50 daily winners of 100MB each, two weekly winners of E1 500 shopping voucher each, one weekly flight ticket winner and one monthly winner of E20 000.

So far MTN has disbursed E3 million in prizes to over 40 000 customers through the competition that started in 2021 as Simagamaga.
