Mbabane: The Eswatini Television Authority Board has since not yet found the right candidate for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the local TV station Eswatini TV. This is evident through a re-advertisement of the position of the CEO which was published in the local daily newspaper, Eswatini Observer.

The position of the CEO for the TV station was left vacant after the team for the former CEO Bongani Austin Sigcikosiyancinca Dlamini ended in January this year. In August Dlamini later succumbed to COVID-19.

Since Dlamini’s term ended the board appointed the station’s Chief Financial Officer Kenneth Maziya as Acting Chief Executive Officer of Eswatini TV. Maziya’s position was held by Simphiwe Ngubeni as the board approved that he should be the acting Chief Financial Officer in the meantime.

Both acting appointments were with effect from February 2021 until further notice, according to a memo.

The board later embarked on a task to recruit a new CEO but seemingly the post is re-advertised which could mean that the board had not found a suitable candidate in the first recruitment exercise.

Eswatini Television Authority is a Category A public enterprise under the Ministry of Information Communications Technology (ICT).

According to the advert released by Eswatini Television Authority, the suitable candidate who should assume the position of the Chief Executive Officer should be a dynamic leader who will be responsible for the overall strategic direction and transformation of the organization towards international standards. The suitable candidate will also be responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic plan in line with the industry best practices. The candidate should ensure policy development and decision-making support to the board and provide secretariat and advisory service to the board.

The suitable candidate should have a combination of qualifications, skills, and experience deemed to be essential for satisfactory performance in the position. The candidate should be a holder of a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or Business Management or equivalent, with a minimum of 10 years experience working as a member of executive management. The candidate according to the advert should also be one with good knowledge of the film and television industry.

The appointment of the CEO will be subject to Verifications, Psychometric assessments, and reference checks, and correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates.
