Mbabane: The Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) and Taiwan Trade (TAITRA) have once again facilitated the participation of Eswatini based traders in the Giftionery 2021 trade show held in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Giftionery Taipei trade show is one of the largest shows for stationery and gifts and is aimed at showcasing innovative and trendy products from around the globe. The main focus areas for this exhibition include School and Office Supplies, Art and Crafts, House Ware and Home Décor, Toys and Children Articles, Hand Bags, Jewelry, Tech, Branding.

The trade show is an excellent platform to make business contacts and trade as it brings exhibitors from countries including Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Nepal, China, India, Peru, and Central America. The Giftionery takes place annually in April and is held in Taipei, Taiwan.

In a statement released by EIPA, nine local traders from Eswatini began exhibiting their goods at the trade show on April 22, 2021, until Sunday, April 25, 2021.

The exhibitions offered local traders exposure to buyers and business opportunities from all around the world, in particular the broader Asian market.

According to EIPA, Eswatini’s participation in this trade show forms part of Eswatini’s efforts to deepen trade relations with Taiwan under the Economic Cooperation Agreement signed in 2018 while also encouraging trade between local companies and highly profitable markets in Asia. Due to COVID-19 travel and health regulations, companies from Eswatini are being represented by The Eswatini Embassy in Taiwan and TAITRA.

The nine companies representing Eswatini exhibited products including fashion wear and accessories, aloe products, handicrafts, tableware, and other home décor, leather products, embroidered goods, and recycled products. These showcase Eswatini’s ability to produce products in line with world-class standards.

Between June and December 2020, Eswatini participated in 4 trade events held in Taiwan with nine traders in the food and beverages sector and eight traders in the handcraft sector promoting their goods to buyers and distributors in Taiwan and Asia.

According to EIPA, these exhibitions benefited local companies as trade deals amounting to US$1.1 million (E17 million) were settled by Eswatini businesses with different companies who placed their orders for products from Eswatini.
