- Equipment worth E500 000 from UNICEF to support the upcoming Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS)
- Survey is to provide updated information on core national indicators
Mbabane: Minister of Economic Planning and Development Dr Thambo Gina has received equipment worth E500 000 from UNICEF to support the upcoming Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS), expected to begin in May 2021.
The MICS is an international household survey programme designed to collect estimates of key indicators that are used to assess the situation of households, children, women & men. Locally, it is conducted by the Central Statistics Office (CSO). Dr Gina: “The main objective of the survey is to provide updated information on core national indicators to assist policymakers & programme implementers to monitor & evaluate existing programmes & evaluate the country’s achievement on the Sustainable Development Goals.”Dr Gina:
“The Government of Eswatini is grateful for the support from the UNICEF country office in supporting the CSO on the implementation of the sixth round of MICS 2020/21. To fast track data collection & timely availability of the report, the CSO will be using Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI).”UNICEF Eswatini Officer in Charge Afshin Parsi: “UNICEF pledges continuous support to the Government of Eswatini as we ensure that we have up-to-date evidence to inform decision making & programming to improve the welfare of Emaswati, especially children & women.”
