Ezulwini – Investment facilitated through the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) exceeded E3 billion during the 2024/25 financial year, generating more than 2,000 jobs through facilitated investment projects.
Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba B. Khumalo shared the figures during an Editors’ Forum held at Royal Villas in Ezulwini, where he engaged editors and members of the media fraternity on economic opportunities in the country.
Khumalo said the investment figures demonstrated the role of investment in creating employment and expanding economic opportunities for emaSwati.
He also highlighted the contribution of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to the economy, noting that approximately 70,000 businesses employ more than 90,000 people.
The minister said businesses and investors needed access to information that would help them understand available opportunities and participate in the economy.
He emphasised the role of the media in communicating economic information in a way that businesses, entrepreneurs and citizens could understand and use.
“A policy is only as effective as its implementation, a law is only as meaningful as its impact, and an opportunity is only valuable when our people can understand and access it,” Khumalo said.
He called for continued collaboration between Government and the media to promote informed public discussion, accountability and greater awareness of economic opportunities.
