Mbabane- Thugs who broke into the headteacher’s office at Mpofu Methodist Primary School to steal school trip money consoled themselves with a lawnmower, tree cutting machine, iPad and some petty cash of less than E200. The incident is alleged to have occured on Sunday night of August, 1, 2026.
It is suspected that the thugs had targeted the headteacher’s office with the hope of hitting a jackpot since there was a school trip the following day. Even though the school has a hired security guard, the thugs are alleged to have broken in through a burglared door before entering the office, without being disturbed by the guard. It is suspected that the security guard was not on the premises when the break-in occured as he would have noticed the noise from the burglary .
Gama told Independent News that she suspects that the criminals were looking for money, since there was going to be a school trip the following day. Police Public Relations Officer Phindile Zwane confirmed that there was a case reported to the Buhleni Police Station of burglary and theft, that occured at Mpofu Methodist Primary School. Zwane said police are thoroughly investigating the case.
