MANZINI– What began as a response to online discrimination has transformed into a celebration of resilience, growth and fresh beginnings as Nonhle prepares to host a joint birthday celebration with Bayanda MC We Country at The Hotbar in Manzini on Saturday, July 11.
For Nonhle, the event is far more than just a birthday party. It represents a turning point in her life after enduring criticism and discrimination on social media. She says the experience inspired her to embrace a fresh start and focus on building a brighter future.
“Looking back at my past life and being discriminated against on social media, I figured it would be a good and fresh start, which inspired me to have this idea. My lesson is that no matter how the world brings you down, you have to dust yourself up, and that’s the journey I’m taking now,” she said.
The celebration has been designed as an inclusive event where everyone can freely express themselves without fear of judgment.
“Firstly, this party is for everyone, so anyone who wants to show off something or anything they can without having fear of what not to do,” she explained.
Nonhle describes the occasion as the beginning of a new chapter in her life, saying the celebration symbolizes hope and bigger opportunities ahead.
“I’m celebrating a new beginning of something greater,” she said.
The event also came together through collaboration after both birthday celebrants realized they had independently planned celebrations on the same day.
“I was planning to host my own party at Ocean Cruisin and Bayanda was planning on hosting at Polar Park on the same date. We then decided to do a joint celebration to avoid other people going to different places,” she revealed.
The joint celebration promises an exciting night of entertainment featuring performances from Zulu D, Fantacy, Best Duo, Acoustic Soul, Cnatra, Maphi, Soulsticks, Sweet Shandis, DJ Khuni, Cool Drop, Pretty Hle, Queen N, Mufasa, The Prefect, Junior, Bearngster and Orthodox. The event will be hosted by Thando, with Nqaba serving as the master of ceremonies.
Reflecting on the people who have stood by her throughout her journey, Nonhle reserved special praise for one individual.
“Drax has always been my biggest supporter and motivator. I wouldn’t say people because they always stab me in the back, but all in all I want to thank everyone who has always been there for me throughout.”
She also encouraged the public to attend the celebration, emphasizing that it represents much more than a birthday.
“I would love people not to miss this celebration because it’s the beginning of new things in life and new people.”
The Double Birthday Celebration will take place at The Hotbar in Manzini, with entrance set at E30 before midnight and E50 after midnight, promising an evening of music, entertainment and the celebration of resilience, friendship and new beginnings.
