“SIYABONGA NDLOVUKAZI” – A musical tribute to the spiritual mother of the nation

MBABANE – In a heartfelt celebration of culture, leadership, and maternal strength, Sancheziey has released a powerful new song titled “Siyabonga Ndlovukazi”, a tribute dedicated to the Indlovukazi in honour of the 40-year reign of His Majesty, King Mswati III.

Sancheziey describes the Indlovukazi as more than a royal figure, but rather “the spiritual backbone of the nation, a symbol of unity, resilience, and maternal wisdom.” Over four decades of the King’s reign, the Indlovukazi has stood as a quiet yet formidable presence,  guiding, nurturing, and strengthening the kingdom in ways that may not always be publicly acknowledged, but are deeply felt by emaSwati.

“The Indlovukazi’s consistency inspired me,” the artist shared. “Her ability to nurture the nation while standing as a pillar beside the King moved me to put that gratitude into words and melody. ‘Siyabonga Ndlovukazi’ was my way of giving voice to what many of us carry in our hearts.”

At its core, the song carries a message of gratitude, reverence, and cultural pride. It calls on emaSwati not to overlook the role of women,  particularly maternal figures, in leadership and nation-building. The artist hopes the song will remind citizens that behind every milestone in the country’s history are figures whose strength and wisdom anchor the nation.

“It says: we see you, we thank you, and we are because of you,” the Sancheziey explained.

Crafting the song was both a creative and spiritual journey. While the writing process took approximately three weeks, the emotional preparation took far longer. The artist spent time engaging with elders, reflecting on royal ceremonies, and immersing themselves in traditional rhythms and storytelling.

“I didn’t want to rush it,” the artist said. “It had to feel authentic and worthy of its purpose.”

Musically, “Siyabonga Ndlovukazi” stands out for its fusion of traditional Swazi elements, including call-and-response vocals and ceremonial drum patterns, with contemporary instrumentation. However, what truly sets the track apart is its perspective. While many songs traditionally centre on praising kings, this composition places the Indlovukazi at the forefront, honouring her leadership role in a way that feels both culturally rooted and refreshingly progressive.

The artist hopes listeners across generations will embrace the song. For the youth, it serves as a reminder of the depth and significance of Eswatini’s cultural leadership. For elders, it is a gesture of respect and recognition. For the nation at large, it is a call to unity.

“More than anything, I hope emaSwati feel pride and connection when they hear it,” the artist concluded. “As we celebrate milestones like 40 years on the throne, we must also celebrate the people who make that journey meaningful.”
