Students gathered at Mlawula Nature Reserve got more than a classroom lesson when officers from the Eswatini National Fire and Rescue Emergency Service arrived to deliver a live fire safety session to Rising Stars Generations Eswatini.
Fire officers sat with the students and walked them through discussions covering home fire safety, the basic science of how fires ignite, and the standard of discipline that firefighting demands. The session was designed to equip the young participants with knowledge they can take back to their homes and neighbourhoods.
What drew the most reaction from students, however, was the live fire drill. When officers demonstrated fire suppression techniques, some students did not just watch — they stepped in, put on fire helmets, and tried the techniques themselves.
ENFRES said the outreach was grounded in a clear position: that securing the future safety of the Kingdom means starting with its youth. The service added that the students who participated on the day could find themselves in ENFRES uniforms within a few years.
