MALKERNS — As anticipation builds for the fifth edition of the Makoti Festival, music lovers are reflecting on the powerhouse headliners who have graced the stage since the event’s inception in 2022. The festival returns to the scenic Malkerns Country Club on May 2, 2026, promising yet another memorable celebration of culture, music and womanhood.
The inaugural Makoti Festival, held on April 23, 2022, set the tone with an impressive lineup. It was headlined by the late South African singer-songwriter Zahara (Bulelwa Mkutukana), alongside gospel sensation Jumbo, Maskandi star Mzukulu, country music talent Cleopatra Methula and Khole.
The second edition continued the trend of securing top-tier talent. Headlining were award-winning South African singer and rapper Sjava (Jabulani Hadebe), gospel legend Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Maskandi extraordinaire Shwi Nomtekhala (Shwi), and Floewe.
In its third year, the festival raised the bar by featuring Grammy Award winner Nomcebo Zikode, renowned gospel singer Ntokozo Mbambo, Maskandi artist Mthandeni Manqele and Eswatini’s global star Bholoja Ngubane.
The fourth edition maintained its reputation for excellence. Since its launch, the Makoti Festival has consistently been hosted at the Malkerns Country Club and has built strong regional ties, partnering with three SADC countries, South Africa, Lesotho and Mozambique. Media activations have extended beyond Eswatini’s borders, with recent campaigns held in Mozambique’s Maputo and South Africa’s Mpumalanga Province in Mbombela.
This year’s lineup promises another electrifying experience, featuring DJ Zinhle, Nothando Hlophe, Velemiseni, Sarnilo, Culolami, DJ Sky White, DJ Picat the Italian, Young Zesh, DJ Cup, Stella Jacobs and many more.
