Mbabane: Eswatini’s Covid-19 recovery rate is hovering at 82.9 percent.
The total number of patients who have recovered from coronavirus pandemic has increased to 4 188, which translate to 82.9 percent.
The number of COVID-19 fatalities stands at 98 and the number of active cases now at 739.
The latest pandemic update confirmed 25 more infections in the past 24-hour cycle. They included 21 from Manzini region, 10 from Lubombo, nine from Hhohho, and four Shiselweni region. This brings the total number of Covid-19 confirmed cases to 5 050.
The new confirmed cases comes from the 201 tests results received by the Ministry of Health in the past 24 hr cycle. Meanwhile, Nkosi said the number of newly confirmed cases in the country is declining and it has been noted also in other countries in the Southern African region. Nkosi said however, ministry of health is interpreting the decline of the COVID-19 cases with caution as a group of epidemiologists are studying the situation on the ground through surveillance measures.
Speaking to this publication, Minister of Health said the number of tests conducted have declined mainly because because of the new guidelines now focusing on testing those who have symptoms so that they receive treatment as soon as possible. Nkosi added that the main objective of the COVID-19 response teams at this stage is to prevent further increase in loss of lives, which means looking out for those who are unwell and ensure that they are tested early
