Buhleni – His Majesty King Mswati III has praised Lutsango for their strong turnout and vibrant dances during the Buganu ceremony held at Buhleni Royal Residence on Saturday night.
Addressing thousands of emaSwati gathered at the Buhleni arena, His Majesty King Mswati III said the joy and unity displayed by the women were a source of blessing for the nation. The annual Buganu ceremony, which celebrates the marula harvest, drew married women from across the country clad in traditional attire, filling the royal residence with song and rhythmic dance.
“I thank Lutsango for your large numbers and for the beautiful dances displayed today. People who remain joyful are blessed by God,” said His Majesty King Mswati III.
The King commended Lutsango for their continued role in preserving Swazi culture and ensuring that younger generations understand the values and responsibilities associated with being part of the regiment. He urged them to remain custodians of tradition and mentors to young women.
“Lutsango must continue to guide the younger generation on what it means to be Lutsango,” the King said.
Beyond cultural preservation, the King also called on Lutsango to take an active role in addressing health challenges affecting communities across the Kingdom. He urged the women to educate the nation about infections and illnesses that continue to claim lives and encouraged them to utilise the clinical services available at Buhleni while attending the ceremony.
“Lutsango must take the lead in educating the nation about infections and illnesses that claim lives across the country,” the King said.
