King Mswati III has commissioned the Lutsango to attend the Buganu ceremony scheduled for February 27 to March 1, 2026, at the Buhleni Royal Residence.
The announcement was made by Indvuna Dzeliwe Ndwandwe at the Ludzidzini Royal Residence on Sunday, confirming preparations for the opening chapter of one of the Kingdom’s most significant cultural events.
His Majesty King Mswati III has officially commissioned the Lutsango for the opening chapter of the 2026 Buganu Ceremony. This weekend, the Buhleni Royal Residence transforms into a vibrant sanctuary of heritage, rhythm, and sisterhood.
The itinerary for the three day gathering outlines a sequence of traditional activities rooted in Swati custom.
Friday will see the arrival of the regiment, carrying the symbolic “first fruits” and marula brew to the royal gates, marking the ceremonial start.
On Saturday, thousands are expected to gather as a kaleidoscopic display of culture unfolds, with participants dancing before Their Majesties in tribute to Swati tradition.
Sunday will bring the ceremony to a close as the Lutsango departs, returning to their communities with blessings associated with the harvest season.
