MBABANE — The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has stepped up efforts against illegal mining in northern Hhohho, conducting a recent raid that yielded several items collected as exhibits. Nine suspects have already been arrested and appeared in court following the operation.

“The operation will continue as the illegal mining activities are not only criminal but put the lives of the illegal miners at risk,” REPS said in a statement. Authorities also noted that communities suffer as these activities can attract outsiders, including criminals, making local areas unsafe.
REPS is urging anyone with information on illegal mining to come forward, stressing that such tips will assist ongoing investigations.
