MBABANE — The Commissioner General of His Majesty’s Correctional Services (HMCS), LaMakhosini Phindile Dlamini, has officially handed over a one-room house to 62-year-old Mr Henry Nkambule, a Malindza resident living with a disability.
Mr Nkambule, who has been living alone under difficult conditions since suffering a stroke in the early 2000s, was selected as a beneficiary following a thorough assessment of vulnerable Emaswati in the Malindza area.
The house, built at an estimated cost of E26 000, was funded through voluntary contributions from officers at the Correctional Headquarters as part of HMCS’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, which aims to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged members of the community.
The official handover was conducted on behalf of the Commissioner General by Commissioner Mancoba Nkambule, who said HMCS officers have shown “unity, selflessness and commitment to extending service beyond their core correctional mandate in order to make a meaningful impact on society.”
He also expressed gratitude to all officers who contributed financially and morally to the project and thanked the Malindza Indlunkhulu, traditional leaders, and community members for their support during construction.
The ceremony was attended by Dvokodvweni Member of Parliament Honourable Sifiso Shabalala, Indvuna Sipho Dlamini, Bucopho, and neighbours, demonstrating strong community solidarity. The handover provided Mr Nkambule with renewed hope and a sense of dignity, reflecting the impact of compassion, unity, and partnership in supporting vulnerable citizens.
