Mbabane – The Minister for Natural Resources and Energy, His Royal Highness Prince Lonkhokhela, has unveiled Ms Nontombi Maphanga as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Eswatini National Petroleum Company, with her appointment taking effect on February 1, 2026.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy in Eswatini as part of efforts to strengthen leadership at the national oil company, which plays a central role in the country’s energy security and petroleum supply.
Ms Maphanga takes over the helm of ENPC with an extensive professional background that spans science, civil engineering and business administration. Her career includes senior executive leadership roles, infrastructure development projects and organisational management within demanding and complex environments.

She also brings broad governance experience, having served on several boards and statutory bodies across different sectors. These include insurance, telecommunications, urban development, housing and financial services. She is currently a non executive director of a financial institution as well as the Eswatini National Housing Board, experience that adds to her oversight and fiduciary credentials.
In her role as CEO, Ms Maphanga is expected to lead ENPC’s strategic and operational direction, with a focus on governance, performance and the delivery of national energy priorities. Among the key projects under her oversight will be the Strategic Oil Reserve Facility at Phuzumoya, which is designed to strengthen Eswatini’s energy resilience through storage capacity of 80 million litres.
The Minister expressed confidence that Ms Maphanga’s leadership and professional capacity will provide stability, ensure effective service delivery and strengthen confidence among stakeholders in the operations of the Eswatini National Petroleum Company.
