Mbabane – Motorists and households across the Kingdom of Eswatini will pay less for fuel from Friday, February 6, 2026, following a price reduction announced by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy.
According to the Ministry, the prices of unleaded petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin will each decrease by 70 cents per litre. The adjustment comes into effect at midnight on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
The announcement, issued in February 2026 and signed by Principal Secretary Lindiwe F. Mbingo, states that Unleaded Petrol 95 will drop from E20.15 per litre to E19.45 per litre. Diesel with 0.005 percent sulphur content will move from E20.55 per litre to E19.85 per litre, while illuminating paraffin will decrease from E14.90 per litre to E14.20 per litre.
The Ministry attributed the price decrease to movements in the Lilangeni to United States dollar exchange rate and developments in the global oil market. In January 2026, the Lilangeni slightly appreciated and averaged E16.32 to the dollar, compared to E16.93 recorded in December 2025, contributing positively to local fuel prices.
During the same period, Brent crude oil prices recorded a slight increase on the international market, trading at an average of 66 United States dollars per barrel in January 2026, compared to an average of 62 dollars per barrel in December 2025.
The Ministry encouraged the public to use fuel efficiently, noting that international oil markets and the Lilangeni dollar exchange rate remain volatile.
