MBABANE – The United States Embassy in Eswatini says it remains committed to supporting the Kingdom’s fight against illicit financial flows and efforts to strengthen asset recovery, during a workshop focused on developing asset recovery guidelines on international cooperation.
The remarks were made at the Workshop on Developing Asset Recovery Guidelines on International Cooperation, where officials and stakeholders gathered to discuss measures aimed at improving cross border collaboration in tackling financial crimes.
Speaking at the event, the Embassy’s Regional Security Officer Peter Nagy praised Eswatini’s progress in improving coordination among government agencies to address money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
“This initiative is not only vital for Eswatini, but for the entire Southern African region,” said Nagy. “Transnational crime and illicit financial flows do not respect borders… the lessons and tools developed here will serve as a model for neighboring countries, building greater trust and interoperability across the region and beyond.”
The embassy said the United States continues to work with Eswatini authorities to strengthen the rule of law and support systems that ensure criminal activities do not result in financial gain.
