Mbabane – The SMVAF Ingwenyama Cup reaches a critical stage this afternoon as the official Last 32 draw takes place in Mbabane, opening the most demanding phase of Eswatini’s premier knockout football competition.
The draw is scheduled for 17:00hrs at the Sincephetelo Motor Vehicle Accident Fund Office Park and will bring together teams that qualified through different routes across the domestic game. Premier League clubs, National First Division sides and regional champions will all be placed into the same draw, with progression now determined by the order in which teams are paired.
A total of 32 teams have booked their place in this round through league performances, playoff success and regional competitions. For established Premier League outfits, the draw marks the continuation of a familiar campaign with little room for error. For teams advancing from regional and playoff stages, the occasion reflects months of effort and belief that has earned them a place on the national stage.
All participating clubs will be competing for 16 spots in the next round, with the long term objective of lifting the Ingwenyama Cup and securing recognition as champions of Eswatini’s flagship knockout tournament. While the mathematics of the round is straightforward, the match outcomes are expected to be far from predictable.
Organisers confirmed that this season’s draw will follow a two pot system. The 16 Premier League teams will be placed in one pot, while the 12 National First Division sides and four regional champions will be placed in the second. Each fixture will be formed by drawing one team from each pot, guaranteeing cross division encounters at this stage.
The format is intended to challenge top-flight teams early while offering lower-division and regional clubs a clear opportunity to test themselves against elite opposition as the Ingwenyama Cup campaign gathers momentum in January 2026.
