SIPHOFANENI – Police have launched an investigation after a chase on January 15 2026 ended with two men fatally wounded and two others fleeing.
Police attempted to stop a Toyota Hilux carrying pig carcasses at Phonjwane around 4 am. The vehicle failed to stop and the occupants abandoned the car before a pursuit began. Two suspects aged 37 and 35 from Siphofaneni were fatally wounded, while the remaining two managed to escape.
Authorities say the suspects are connected to a recent theft of four pigs from a homestead in Mpaka. The two men who died were reportedly out on bail for previous stock theft offences in the area.
Police continue to track the remaining suspects and have urged the public to provide information to assist with the investigation.
