Mbabane – MBABANE South African actress and activist Nomzamo Mbatha has publicly called for justice following reports that Durban based hairstylist Snehlanhla Mthembu is in intensive care after an alleged domestic violence incident.
Mbatha took to social media this week to raise alarm over Mthembu’s condition, saying the hairstylist sustained serious injuries during an alleged assault. She said Mthembu is currently being treated in an intensive care unit with burn wounds to her face and body, injuries she allegedly suffered while trying to escape from her attacker.
The actress said the abuse had been ongoing for months and described Mthembu as someone close to her. She appealed directly to the South African Police Service to intervene and urged the public to demand swift action through lawful means.
The posts quickly gained traction online, prompting renewed discussion about domestic violence, police response and survivor protection.
Mthembu, who is a hairstylist and entrepreneur, later shared her own account through Instagram stories. She alleged that she has been physically abused for months by her boyfriend, Andile Junior, aged 24, and said turning to the public was a last option after failing to get help through official channels.
According to her account, she opened several cases at a police station but claims no action followed. She questioned how multiple case numbers could exist without arrests being made and said she feared for her life if the situation remained unresolved.
