Freetown, Sierra Leone – Ghanaian politician and Pan-African advocate Ras Mubarak has concluded successful engagements in Freetown, Sierra Leone, as part of his 163-day, 40,000-kilometre road journey across 39 African countries. The campaign, Trans Africa Tourism & Unity, promotes visa-free travel, regional integration, and tourism growth across the continent and is endorsed by the Government of Ghana.
During the visit, Ras Mubarak met with Hon Nabeela Farida Tunis, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, and Hon Francess Piagie Alghali, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Both leaders welcomed the campaign’s vision, pledging Sierra Leone’s support for African integration, regional cooperation, and the removal of barriers to the free movement of people and goods.
Minister Tunis highlighted the role of sustainable tourism in economic empowerment and cultural exchange, noting its alignment with the campaign’s goals to unlock Africa’s tourism potential through open borders. Deputy Minister Alghali stressed the importance of policy and diplomatic measures to enhance continental connectivity and advance Pan-African objectives.
Ras Mubarak said the journey reinforces the urgency of realizing a visa-free and integrated Africa, linking economic prosperity, cultural exchange, and shared growth to the free movement of people and goods. He added that Sierra Leone’s leadership and support provide momentum toward a borderless continent by 2030, in line with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the Protocol on Free Movement.
The campaign will continue to Monrovia, Liberia, as it advances its mission to connect African nations through tourism and unity.
