Tshaneni Police have taken into custody two men linked to copper cable thefts at Mhlume Post Office. The suspects, a 37-year-old man from Dvokolwako and a 21-year-old from Ondiyaneni, were arrested on January 5, 2026, around 10:00 at Matsapha Scrap Yard. They face two charges involving the theft of E.P.T.C. copper cables valued at over E100,000.
Police investigations revealed that on January 4, 2026, about 17:00, 100 metres of black copper cable worth E36,522 went missing from the post office. Earlier, on December 8, 2025, the same suspects were linked to the theft of 200 metres of black copper cable valued at E73,044 in the same area.
During the January arrest, the suspects were found with copper ready for sale and were accompanied by two others who fled when police arrived.
Both men appeared before the Siteki Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 7, and were remanded in custody. Their next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, January 12.
