Mbabane – Zitha Lovers Eliot, a 38-year-old SOS resident, fled a roadblock and was pursued by police in the capital city of Mbabane, but was momentarily apprehended and charged for resisting arrest.
Eliot appeared in the Mbabane Magistrates Court, facing three counts, the first of which was a violation of Section 41 (1) of the Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act 67/1938. He had no previous convictions, the prosecution said.
The presiding magistrate sentenced Eliot to a collective E3000 fine. For count one, he was sentenced to a E2000 fine or 12 months’ imprisonment. Counts two and three’s sentencing was E500 fine or three months imprisonment each, consecutively.
