Mbabane – Ayanda Dlamini, a 24-year-old male adult from Elangeni, was charged with two offences and subsequently fined E2500 for contravening traffic regulations.
In count one, the man was accused of violating both section 122(2) and section 91(1) of the Road Traffic Act No. 6 of 2007. According to his charge sheet, on January 4, 2026, at around 2227 hours, Dlamini was operating a Mazda Verisa in Elangeni along the Buka-Elangeni public route while under the influence of narcotic narcotics or intoxicating beverages. He was pulled by the road by the police and his alcohol reading was 1.27 mg/l.
Warranting count two, he failed to provide a valid driver’s licence, according to the charge sheet, thereby violating Section 23 (1) of the Road Traffic Act No. 6 of 2007, as read with Section 122(7) of the same Act. He pleaded guilty and apologised, claiming they had a party at home and that he was required to bring them back to their destinations. Dlamini was fined E2000 for the first count, with the alternative of 12 months in prison. The second count carried an E500 fine with the option of serving a three-month prison term. The sentences are ordered consecutively.
