Siteki police are investigating an attempted murder following a violent altercation that unfolded late on New Year’s Eve at Manyovu Bar in Siweni.
The incident occurred at about 11.30pm on December 31, 2025, when four men arrived at the popular drinking spot to socialise. Police reports indicate that during the evening one of the men showed interest in a female patron who later left the bar unnoticed.
As confusion set in, the four men reportedly began arguing outside the premises. A 35 year old man from Siweni, now identified as the victim, offered to help them search for the woman. The group then boarded a vehicle with the intention of locating her, but the disagreement continued while they were on the road.
According to investigators, the situation escalated inside the moving vehicle when the victim allegedly strangled the driver, putting both the occupants and other road users at risk. The driver called out to his companions for assistance, fearing for his life and the possibility of a crash.
During the struggle, one of the passengers allegedly produced a knife and stabbed the victim several times in the abdomen. The injured man was later attended to, while the suspects fled the scene.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service confirmed that an attempted murder case has been opened at Siteki Police Station. Officers are following up on leads as they work to locate and arrest the suspect involved in the stabbing.
