Skukuza – The South African National Parks will implement gate quotas at Kruger National Park during the festive season to control congestion and ensure safety on the roads and facilities. The system affects day visitors, while overnight guests are not impacted.

SANParks said once daily quotas are reached, only pre-booked visitors will be allowed entry. Visitors without bookings may have to queue and can enter depending on how many guests are exiting the park. Wild Card members are also required to pay the R59 adult or R29 child non-refundable administration fee when booking online at www.sanparks.org.

Pre-booked day visitors must arrive within their assigned time slots or risk losing priority access. Time slots are 05:30 to 08:00, 08:00 to 10:00, and 10:00 onwards. Conservation fees vary by nationality with South African residents and Zimbabwean or Mozambican nationals paying R134 per adult and R67 per child, while SADC nationals pay R275 per adult and R137 per child. Other visitors pay R602 per adult and R300 per child. Guests must provide valid identification to avoid paying higher fees.

Vehicles must display valid license plates or temporary license numbers. Any vehicle inside the park without proper registration will be impounded, and the driver fined.

Ranger Services, the South African Police Service, and the South African National Defence Force will patrol the park during the holidays to ensure compliance and prevent poaching.

SANParks encourages visitors to use the cash-free payment system at gates and fuel stations in the southern section of the park for smoother entry and exit. Guests are also urged to follow park rules and use the 24-hour emergency numbers on entrance permits to report incidents.
