Mbabane – There could be no enjoyable Christmas for suspended government spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo, as his matter was postponed to be argued in court in January 2026; following that, his salary is still withheld.

When the parties appeared in the Industrial Court on Tuesday before Judge Abande Dlamini, the judge found out that talks between Nxumalo and the government about settling things fell through because the government didn’t want to pay for the months that Nxumalo wasn’t in office.

It would seem the government’s condition is that he would have to clock in immediately, if he so wishes, without the previous months’ pay he’s in court for.

In his matter, Nxumalo seeks court orders to compel the Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary, the secretary in the Civil Service Commission (CSC), the Accountant General, the Attorney General (AG), and the four respondents to release his salary for the months of October and November 2025, including all other subsequent months, in accordance with the employment contract of three years.

Nxumalo’s contract resumed on September 15 and commenced on October 1, the court documents reflect. Nxumalo is still fighting strongly, saying he was put on suspension after reporting for duty. He would later learn that his suspension was without pay and says that he had not been consulted on it.

But because of these differences, Judge Dlamini put the case off until January 7, 2026, when the court would start working again.
